America's Drug Wars

Those Who Are Ignorant of History Are Condemned to Repeat It

I'd just like to observe that:

a) It's futile to fight human nature. People have always sought and found ways to alter their consciousness and always will, whether it's through hunger-induced trances, meditation, twirling around to get dizzy, or taking drugs of some sort.

b) We are proving the old adage, "those who are ignorant of history are condemned to repeat it". Do the people in the D.E.A. know anything about Prohibition? Not much, I suspect.

c) Instead of trying to eliminate drugs (see point "a" above), we could, perhaps, try to allow their controlled their use. Legalization would put some nasty people out of business overnight, create new businesses, and increase the government's revenues (which could, perhaps, be used for drug treatment programs).

That's all for now.

Thank you.
