Jim Northrup, 56, lives just a quarter mile from where he grew up on the Fond du Lac Indian Reservation, in the woods of northern Minnesota. He's an Anishinabe (he prefers that more traditional name for his tribe over the more commonly-used Ojibwe or Chippewa), and an accomplished writer. Much of his adult life has been shaped by the thirteen months that he spent in Vietnam.
