Gregory Fearon, Vietnam veteran
Santa Rosa, California, USA

As an Air Force Sergeant in the Mekong Delta in 1969, I was assigned duties which allowed me to travel extensively throughout the hamlets and cities. My eagerness to explore how the war effected children led me to trade photographs of them for family friendships and protection, and it has carried me through 30 years of child-serving careers. In health care, child care, and family support programs, I built on the insight and strength that I gained living with those families, and learning from those children. Most recently, I have begun to direct the implementation of a new multi-million dollar program in California improving early childhood development in a San Francisco Bay Area county.

A few of those photographs have been published and displayed in galaries since then. I enclose them here in honor of the anniversary, and in hopes they can inspire others, as they did me.
