Gate money for Massachusetts:
Massachusetts does not provide gate money, but if an inmate is determined indigent, the state works with local agencies to find housing and employment. Massachusetts has had a reentry program since 1999, for which all inmates are eligible, though it is an optional program. Inmates are assessed for risk factors, referred to appropriate programming, and toward the end of their incarceration develop transition plans. The reentry program includes post-release supervision. The state recently received a million-dollar grant from the Department of Justice to further develop reentry programs.
