Song Catcher: Life Story

AUDIO NARRATION
Magic Lantern Audio 5 continues through slide 5.

THIS IS A PLAINS INDIAN called Pan. He was a nice old fellow, and a good farmer. He's shown here playing a whistle, not a flute. There are no fingerholes...and the end of the whistle is shaped like a bird's beak. These Hidatsa people lived in earth lodges with flat roofs...and in the evening the young men used to go in the woods around the village playing these instruments. People sat on their lodges to hear the whistles.
