Karen Brown is a health care and urban-issues reporter for WFCR, the public
radio station in Amherst, MA. Her radio features have aired on National Public Radio, Marketplace, Justice Talking, and other national outlets. Her previous radio documentary, "Trauma and Recovery: A Cambodian Refugee Experience," was produced with a Kaiser Family Foundation mini-fellowship, and won the 2002 Daniel Schorr Journalism Prize. Karen's features and documentaries have also been honored by the Public Radio News Directors Inc, RTNDA, Association of Health Care Journalists, and the Massachusetts Associated Press. Prior to her life in radio, she was a print reporter for The Philadelphia Inquirer. She received a Masters in Journalism from the University of California at Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism, and teaches radio at Hampshire College.
